“Brush and clean in between to build a healthy smile” is this year’s NCDHM campaign slogan from the American Dental Association. The team at Enterprise Dental Care is ready to educate all our young patients on the best way to brush and floss their teeth. It’s all about developing good habits!
We’re here to support Moms and Dads in the never ending challenge of helping the kiddos understand the value of brushing at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and flossing once a day.
One way we can help is to explain why routine brushing and flossing is important to your child. Should your child have an appointment this month we'll take a few moments to show them proper techniques. Also, we’re holding several programs and events throughout the month to ensure your family feels supported, listened to, and inspired to ask questions about children’s dental health.
We encourage parents to download the Calendar Activity for their children and work with them on charting brushing their teeth. This is a great interactive tool for children to build and strengthen healthy oral habits.
For parents of much younger children you can expose infants to the activity of future brushing, but also remove harmful bacteria. Just take a wet washcloth after feedings and clean your baby’s gums of any food.
The ADA has sponsored National Children’s Dental Health Month for 63 years. They know dental disease in children can be damaging - making it difficult to sleep, eat or chew, pay attention in school or inhibit smiling. It’s why we take an entire month to focus on children’s dental health.
Enterprise Dental Care will provide coloring sheets in the waiting room for children with appointments. If you’re not scheduled to visit us this month feel free to access these coloring sheets here: Coloring Sheet, Crossword, Calendar Activity, Maze Activity.
We understand the importance of doing everything in our power to make your child’s visit a comfortable and gentle experience. We see too many adults who have had bad dental experiences. It has made them uncomfortable and apprehensive and the result is they avoid regular checkups, which increases their risks of dental disease.
As a young boy, Dr. Kevin Granger often visited a dentistry practice after school to observe and foster his passion of oral healthcare. Now, in February 2019, Dr. Granger sees National Children’s Dental Health Month as a great way for Enterprise Dental Care to foster oral health in young patients. Who knows, we may even inspire a young person to consider dentistry as a career.
Enterprise Dental Care serves the dental needs of children through its Family Dentistry practice in the communities of Mitchellville and Bowie MD.
